Despite the First Year 20 lbs I have gained from stress eating, the seasonal affective disorder I experienced from the long winters, and some bouts of homesickness, I am still proud of the choice I made to come here. In one years time I have made new relationships that I know will be great working contacts down the road, I have become a more confident stage manager and most importantly I have learned so much about myself as a person. I came to grad school for two major reasons; I felt that I still had a lot to learn and I wanted to grow. Both of those things happened and this program continues to provide opportunities and challenges that only make me better.
By the end of October in my second year I will have been a part of stage managing new work, two dance shows, a music concert and an Opera. I look forward to taking some teaching classes and leading my own discussion class next year. I am so thrilled to be becoming a more well rounded stage manager and to also be gaining some practical teaching experience. I think by the time I leave here I will feel qualified for almost any management position and that is exactly what I wanted. Thank you to everyone for making my first year of grad school such a valuable experience. Some of my favorite people will be graduating and moving on by the end of next month but I know this is not goodbye which makes it a little easier to cope with. Looking forward to all the new challenges that are waiting for me over the summer and in the coming year. Stay tuned.
